We have reviewed our mask policy as we have come out of winter and seen a decrease in the daily cases of Covid-19 as well as the hospitalisation and ICU numbers relating to Covid-19. In light of this, we are now making masks optional for patients who do not have any cough, cold or flu-like symptoms.

If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask at Temple Hills then please continue to do so. Also if you have forgotten to bring a mask and would like one, please ask someone on our reception team and they will provide one to you. If you have Covid-19 symptoms then masks will remain mandotory when you enter the building.

What to do when you arrive at Temple Hills Medical Centre?

We are still asking patients to call reception prior to entering the building when they arrive for their appointment. This is so that we can confirm your identity and to ask if you have any possible Covid-19 symptoms. If you do have symptoms, we will ask that you remain in your car and the doctor will give you a call when they are ready to see you. When you enter the building we will ask you to wear a mask if you have cough, cold or flu-like symptioms. This allows us to reduce the risk to other patients who are in the waiting room.

We have appreciated all our patients being so co-operative with these measures. At this stage of the pandemic response we feel that these measure are proportional and balance the risk that Covid-19 brings. Ultimately, we have implemented these measures so that all patients feel comfortable coming to the practice. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss. Please be aware that it is still mandatory to wear a face mask when attending Temple Hills Medical Centre. General Practices are still considered "sensitive settings" due to the nature of patients attending the practice. If you can please remember to bring a face mask to your appointment that would be fantastic.

If you forget to bring a face mask, please let reception know and we can give you a complimentary disposable surgical mask.

If you have a medical exemption from wearing a face mask, please let reception know. We will ask you to wait outside the practice and the doctor will call you prior to your appointment to discuss this.

Covid-19 has introduced telephone appointments as an integral part of how General Practices run. Medicare now covers some of the cost of these appointments and we now allow all patients to book telephone appointments.

Medicare has changed the rules; however, making it a requirement that every patient needs to have seen by a doctor at THMC in the past year in order to qualify for the rebate. The only exception is if you have tested positive for Covid-19.

If you have not been to the doctor in the past year, you can still book an appointment; however, you will be charged the full private fee and will not be eligible to get anything back from Medicare. Please discuss this with one of our receptionists if you have any questions or if this causes any issues.
