Our billing policy is reviewed by the doctors at THMC annually, and you will be informed of changes that may affect you at least four weeks prior to implementation.
Our billing policy reflects the doctors desire to:
- provide their patients and the staff at THMC with the highest quality of premises, equipment, service, convenience and care, and
- provide equitable access to high quality primary care for all people regardless of income.
The doctors at THMC have decided that they will privately bill for consultations, with the exception being for Pension cardholders who qualify for the tripled medicare incentive. The doctors always retain discretion over billing. Payment is to be made on the day of consultation only, by cash, EFTPOS or credit card. A Medicare rebate will be directly deposited back into your account if you are registered for same day claiming.
All chronic disease management plans are bulk-billed, as well as a number of procedures.
Please inform us of your Workcover and TAC claim number. If you are seen prior to obtaining your claim number, the doctors have agreed to charge you privately and you are then able to be reimbursed by Workcover or TAC upon processing of your claim.
Please see the table for a list of fees that the doctors have agreed they will charge. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please discuss this with your doctor of with our practice manager who will be able to talk with you doctor on your behalf.
Cancellations or Non-Attendance
We understand that life happens and that sometimes you aren't able to make it to an appointment that you have booked. Please provide us with as much notice as possible if you are looking to cancel your appointment. Please note that the doctor have impose a fee if you do not give us more than two hours notice.
If you fail to attend an appointment without cancelling your appointment then the doctor will likely charge you $30 for a Standard Appointments or $50 for a Long Consultations. No further appointments will be made until this fee is paid.
Procedure Pack Fee
In order for the doctor to perform minor procedures at Temple Hills Medical Centre, there is a $65 procedure pack fee. This fee is for all the disposable instruments provided by the practice which is used for the procedure. Unfortunately these are things that are not covered by Medicare.
The fee is charged by the practice for the use of the instruments and is charged regardless of whether you are bulk-billed or not. Please discuss this with your Doctor or the practice manager if there are any issues.
Medical Report Fees
In order for a Doctor to prepare a medical report outside a consultation that is requested by an Insurance Company or Lawyer the Doctors have agreed to charge a standard fee of $180. Depending on the length of the report this may increase at the discretion of the Doctor.
Work related medical reports that are completed during a consultation will be billed at the discretion of the doctor but generally the doctors have agreed that they will attract their standard appointment fees. Please note that depending on the nature of the report (particularly if it is work related) you may not qualify for a medicare rebate and will need to pay the full consultation fee.
